My name is Tyler Guzman, and I recently graduated from Northeastern University with a M.S. in bioinformatics. In the lab, I have a dual-role that allows me to analyze bioinformatic data as well as conduct wet-lab experiments. The Astyanax Mexicanus has been an intriguing evolutionary organism to research since they have a living river fish ancestor that could be genetically compared to with the evolved cave fish morphotypes. Through these comparisons, we hope to explore how the cavefish morphotypes are able to have the same longevity as the river fish morphotype despite having metabolic syndrome which has negative consequences in human health. In my free time, I enjoy jogging in preparation for marathons and collecting records on my free time.
