Jaya Krishnan Ph.D.
I am an Assistant Professor at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. I completed my Bachelors and Masters from the University of Delhi and trained as a Drosophila geneticist in my Ph.D. at the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, India. I always found gene regulation and epigenetic mechanisms very interesting and pursued my research in that direction from early on. During my postdoc at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, the blind cavefish and their remarkable adaptations caught my interest that continues till today. In my lab, we explore the genetic and molecular basis of their unique metabolic and physiological traits that keep them healthy despite obesity and hyperglycemia. Beyond the lab, I enjoy spending time with my family, often going on long walks together.
